How audiences work
An audience is a live group of guests built from conditions over their profiles. Guests move in and out automatically as their behaviour changes.
When you'd use it
Read this first to see how an audience is defined and kept current before you use it in a campaign.
How it behaves
An audience is a set of conditions over the guest profile, not a frozen list. The conditions read real activity sitting on the same profile as everything else, so you target on what actually happened rather than a list typed up by hand.
Membership is worked out fresh each time the audience is used, so a guest who lapses drops out and a new regular drops in without you touching it. The count you see is the last one checked, with a note of when, and you can refresh it on demand.
An audience feeds straight into email and text campaigns and into workflows, and can be exported as a list.

Good to know
Membership is dynamic, so the count changes over time; refresh for the current number.
Audiences read the same profile data the rest of the platform uses.
To target on something you cannot filter directly, such as spend or a cancelled booking, tag the guest or run a workflow, then build an audience from the tag.
